Life isn't all that peachy for young Ichigo Kurosaki (Sota Fukushi, THE TRAVELLING CAT CHRONICLES). After the hell his father put him and his two sisters through following their mother's suspicious death, he's not one to let himself be pushed around. He also happens to see ghosts! One night, his ability to interact with roaming wraiths brings him into contact with a shinigami named Rukia (Hana Sugisaki, seen in BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL), a protector of humanity against the forces of evil who's in pursuit of a hollow, a colossal creature sprung from an evil spirit that feeds on the souls of the living. When she's attacked by the monster, a wounded Rukia must pass her powers on to Ichigo. The latter manages to defeat the entity with the help of a huge sword acquired through his unusual spiritual power, reluctantly turning the student into a shinigami himself. There are those, however, who are violently opposed to having a human in their midst. Furthermore, an ultra-powerful hollow is about to emerge...
Fantasia has often featured adaptations of hugely popular mangas. Few, however, have been as internationally renowned as BLEACH. Fortunately, the reboot of this beloved franchise has been placed in the hands of Shinsuke Sato (INUYASHIKI, GANTZ), one of the best Japanese directors with experience taking on this kind of challenge. Having worked in various genres, from action to horror, even dabbling in animation, Sato has taken charge masterfully of this herculean task. Faithful to the source material while still being creative, BLEACH is quite an eyeful with its magnificent special effects, its immersive sound treatment and its classic characters brought to life by rising young stars at the top of their game. BLEACH covers a small part of the epic manga's storyline so don't you dare miss this first immersion into mangaka Tite Kubo's masterpiece! Your resulting self-loathing just might turn you into a hollow! - Translation: Guillaume Desbiens
